About Rats and Rodents

There are many species of Rats and Rodents in the Houston Metroplex. The Vermin we call Roof Rats are widespread throughout our Houston area.  Common rats are called with a number of other names, too, such as roof rats, Norwegian rats, wharf rats, brown rats, and so on. It’s a nasty vermin, common in most regions, and has earned many names.  While it’s a common animal, nobody likes rats. And for good reason. Rats nest in buildings where they have access to shelter and food. Hidden empty spaces close to the ground and food: that’s all a rat infestation needs to happen. These are things every good rat exterminator looks for during an inspection. It is critical to stop infestations before they quickly grow out of control! For example, female rats can produce up to twenty offspring per year. This extremely high rate of reproduction is what makes Rodents such an efficient pest. Additionally, their lifespan can be up to three years. Any Rodent infestation can quickly spiral out of control and wreak havoc. Rodent removal if not done properly can have a huge impact on homes and businesses alike. Most Rats and Rodents will eat almost anything available to them and will chew wiring, pipes, insulation, walls, and more. They also leave many droppings, potentially spreading disease. Rat and Rodent infestations also will create a very gross smell in and around your house or business!

Rat and Rodent Removal Exclusion

Having Rats or Rodents in the attic is a common problem for businesses and homeowners alike. Most people never even see them, but they often can identify the problem from the “scratching noises” or “scratching in the attic sounds”.

How does a Rat or Rodent infestation really happen? To answer this question, any good rat exterminator will ask you to remember three words: food, shelter, and openings. They can enter your home through the smallest and most inconspicuous of places, and once they decide to make your home their new home, they reproduce quickly and often.  They chew wiring, destroying water lines, easily tear up ductwork, and will potentially contaminate your insulation with feces and urine. Also, everybody knows these days that Rodent type animals can carry a large amount of diseases.

Ridding yourself of rats can be very tricky, and even the handiest of homeowners will often struggle to outsmart these animals due to their great ability to survive and adapt. The areas of entry may not always be easy to find for most people, and rats will often make new ways into your home once they have marked their territory, often to the frustration of the owner. Ready to rid yourself of a potentially huge problem? Maybe some cold hard facts will help you understand the great issue that could be at hand.  A female mouse can reproduce in as little as six weeks after their birth. The house mouse is the most common rodent pest in the USA and can grow in numbers exponentially within a months time. Did you know a pair of mice can produce anywhere between 10,000 and 15,000 offspring in a year? Mice and most rodents aren’t going anywhere soon, mice alone can live for 12 months. Need to know more?
